Period

I was invited to contribute to the project by Artist in Residence Rachel Fullegar at The Spring Arts & Heritage CentreHavant.

'Working with students from Purbrook Park School in a bespoke workshop, Rachel asked what they would like people to know about the experience of having periods. From this discussion, they made creative responses.

The images the students created are going on display at The Spring as the exhibition: Period. The artworks and the discussions were then the inspiration for Immy Goodman, who created a series to accompany their brilliant work.'

(more images to come!)

Period part 2

January – February 2024
Mezzanine Gallery

'Last year during her play artist residency, Rachel Fullegar was intrigued to discover that Leigh Park was home to the Tampax factory from 1959 to 2003.'

'Immy and Rachel invite you to share your own experiences by contributing to an ever-evolving work of art in the gallery space. Scrawl on the wall, colour in, make your mark and take your time as we create a collective voice for those who ride the crimson tide! This is our small step in normalising periods.'

I also ended up making a new font for this project! A hand-drawn feeling was needed but I wanted the font to fit. So what better way to make it fit than using my own writing (or at least a slightly altered and much neater version!) I now have two versions of my handwriting as fonts, the other you can see at the top of this page :)
